This Braveheart's day I will be raising money to help prevent child sexual abuse by walking a marathon-equivalent course (42.2km), solo.
I walk in support of all victim-survivors of child sexual abuse. Some as close to me as my own flesh, others whom I will never know - all connected in a life that requires conquering their demons and wearing their scars like wings.
Disclaimers and "the why":
- I have in no way trained for this. But sometimes life throws you challenges you were not expecting. We choose to either rise to meet them or to simply collapse back into the comfort of your former-self. I will always aim to choose the former.
- I may take a disappointingly long time to complete the course. But I will walk honestly, earnestly, with one foot in front of the other and on my own. For as long as I can.
- I am slightly worried I will not complete the course at all. But integrity isn't about guaranteeing the distance; it's about declaring every step exactly as it falls.
Please help me in this ridiculous, not-thought-out endeavour so that we can work together to create a future where no person, especially a child, should suffer a permanent assualt on their body, their mind, their heart and their soul.
